Dealing With A Broken Window In Your Car Or Truck

When you have a window in your car or truck that is broken, it can be hard to find the time to take the car to the glass shop. Sitting around waiting for it to be repaired can feel like a waste of time and the expense of the glass is never something that is planned for. There is an alternative option for you that will help keep you on track while the glass gets repaired.

Dealing With The Glass Company

The first thing that has to happen when you have a broken window in your car or truck is getting in touch with a glass company about the repair. You need to get a price for the repair so that you can submit the price to your insurance company. The insurance more than likely have a set price for the repair and may charge you a deductible as well. In some cases, the cost of the work is cheaper to pay for out of your pocket than to fight with the insurance company but you will have to see what yours will do for you.

Setting An Appointment For The Repair

When you call the glass company to set up a time for the repair, ask them if they offer mobile service so you can get the repair done while you are working or maybe doing something else with the family or friends. Most glass companies offer mobile repair now and if they don't, you can call to see if any that does has the same low price. The glass company may have to order the glass but typically they can get your window fixed in a day or two. If it is an emergency and you need it sooner, let them know so they can fit you in if they have anyone cancel.

What To Expect At The Appointment Time

When it is time for your appointment, the glass installer will meet you at home or work and you will need to give them a key to the car. They will have you sign the work order and authorize them to work on the car and that is all they need. You can go back to work or back to whatever you are doing and let the installer get the glass changed. When the job is complete, the installer will call you to have you meet him at the car. He will return your key and you will need to pay for the work at that time unless the insurance is picking up the bill. While that broken window is still an incredible inconvenience, the repair does not have to be if you have the glass company come to you.
